Stimulus Not All It's Cracked up To Be!

Well it has finally come out that the stimulus package designed for the states is not doing much good. At least for Rhode Island it's not. Based on an article from the Providence Journal.

Rhode Island has the sixth highest jobless rate per capita in the country with 10.5%. Now it's not quite as bad as what I am writing, some of the stimulus has been used for social issues. Though a good percentage has went to infrastructure. But I would have to say that those same infrastructure jobs are only benefitting the same companies that always do them and the union halls. Personally I have never seen an infrastructure job done by anyone but unions. Probably because the unions force everyone else out.

Now there really could be numerous other reasons out there that they are not having any knid of economic rebound with the stimulus. But personally I doubt it.

How is Paying Money To teach Prostitutes in China to Drink Benefitting the U.S.

I was just reading an article on CNSNews.com. And I cannot believe what I am reading. The U.S. will pay $2.6 million to teach Chinese prostitutes how to drink in a bar. I am a Chinese/American. But I am 100% American and have no desire to send any money to China. Let the Chinese government take care of their own prostitutes. Don't we have enough prostitutes here in this country. I am not concerned that they cannot handle their alcohol and then after spreading their legs for someone.

First of all the practice of prostitution is condemned by the majority in this country. Second it is illegal in most states in this country. So why are we taking up this cause in another country? I could be wrong but I do believe this is a practice not looked on kindly in China. Lets keep in mind that when it comes to tolerance of most things, China is lacking in that department. Prime example is the Tienanmen Square massacre. For reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiananmen_Square_protests_of_1989. I am sure most remember how that turned out for the protesters. I guess that shows the tolerance level China has for its own people.

So lets send in those letters people to your representatives showing your disapproval to such a flagrant waste of our taxpayer money.

Al Gore---Is he in with the environment or big business?

Now I was just reading an article from CNSNews.com. I just love how Al Gore thinks every American is just stupid. As everyone knows Al Gore is a mega environmentalist. Which to me is ok if you are not a hypocrite. His idea of being an environmentalist is flying around the country in a private jet. I did say private jet. He rationalizes this buy buying "eco-credits" as if this actually helps the environment at all.

Sorry about that, I started rambling a bit about a self rightous louse. The actual reason I am blogging about him is because of the latest bit of crap coming out of his mouth. As you all know I am not a fan of cap-and-trade legislation. My biggest problem with it is it seems to be nothing more than a tax on energy companies. Who do you think will pay that? The emergy companies....HAHA....I don't think so. My second problem with it is actually what Al Gore says about it. His idea about cap-and-trade is that eventually it will be cheaper on the American public as we will decide to go to alternative energies. Ok...lets analyze this a little. First of all alternative energies are initially expensive. Not just labor but material. Next we get into the fact that as long as the energy companies can make a profit they will never change to any other source of power. These idiot consevationalist must think everyone has a job right now making $250,000 a year. I don't know about you but one I am not working right now and two I don't make no where near that amount.

Don't get me wrong people I love the environment. I enjoy being outside, camping, hiking and all kind of other things. However I am a realist and I realize that when things are not economically viable it makes other things impractical to do. So if you feel the way I do about the way things are going on Capital Hill then you need to call your representative and tell them to vote aginst any cap-and-trade legislation.

I just finished reading a news report on www.foxnews.com. They were reporting on the "90% of all the guns used by the drug cartels in their battles come from the U.S. For those that have not read the article I will post it in this blog.

EXCLUSIVE: You've heard this shocking "fact" before -- on TV and radio, in newspapers, on the Internet and from the highest politicians in the land: 90 percent of the weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the United States.

-- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it to reporters on a flight to Mexico City.

-- CBS newsman Bob Schieffer referred to it while interviewing President Obama.

-- California Sen. Dianne Feinstein said at a Senate hearing: "It is unacceptable to have 90 percent of the guns that are picked up in Mexico and used to shoot judges, police officers and mayors ... come from the United States."

-- William Hoover, assistant director for field operations at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, testified in the House of Representatives that "there is more than enough evidence to indicate that over 90 percent of the firearms that have either been recovered in, or interdicted in transport to Mexico, originated from various sources within the United States."

There's just one problem with the 90 percent "statistic" and it's a big one:

It's just not true.

In fact, it's not even close. The fact is, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S.

What's true, an ATF spokeswoman told FOXNews.com, in a clarification of the statistic used by her own agency's assistant director, "is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S."

But a large percentage of the guns recovered in Mexico do not get sent back to the U.S. for tracing, because it is obvious from their markings that they do not come from the U.S.

"Not every weapon seized in Mexico has a serial number on it that would make it traceable, and the U.S. effort to trace weapons really only extends to weapons that have been in the U.S. market," Matt Allen, special agent of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), told FOX News.

A Look at the Numbers

In 2007-2008, according to ATF Special Agent William Newell, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing. Close to 6,000 were successfully traced -- and of those, 90 percent -- 5,114 to be exact, according to testimony in Congress by William Hoover -- were found to have come from the U.S.

But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes.

In other words, 68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S.

So, if not from the U.S., where do they come from? There are a variety of sources:

-- The Black Market. Mexico is a virtual arms bazaar, with fragmentation grenades from South Korea, AK-47s from China, and shoulder-fired rocket launchers from Spain, Israel and former Soviet bloc manufacturers.

-- Russian crime organizations. Interpol says Russian Mafia groups such as Poldolskaya and Moscow-based Solntsevskaya are actively trafficking drugs and arms in Mexico.

- South America. During the late 1990s, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) established a clandestine arms smuggling and drug trafficking partnership with the Tijuana cartel, according to the Federal Research Division report from the Library of Congress.

-- Asia. According to a 2006 Amnesty International Report, China has provided arms to countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Chinese assault weapons and Korean explosives have been recovered in Mexico.

-- The Mexican Army. More than 150,000 soldiers deserted in the last six years, according to Mexican Congressman Robert Badillo. Many took their weapons with them, including the standard issue M-16 assault rifle made in Belgium.

-- Guatemala. U.S. intelligence agencies say traffickers move immigrants, stolen cars, guns and drugs, including most of America's cocaine, along the porous Mexican-Guatemalan border. On March 27, La Hora, a Guatemalan newspaper, reported that police seized 500 grenades and a load of AK-47s on the border. Police say the cache was transported by a Mexican drug cartel operating out of Ixcan, a border town.

'These Don't Come From El Paso'

Ed Head, a firearms instructor in Arizona who spent 24 years with the U.S. Border Patrol, recently displayed an array of weapons considered "assault rifles" that are similar to those recovered in Mexico, but are unavailable for sale in the U.S.

"These kinds of guns -- the auto versions of these guns -- they are not coming from El Paso," he said. "They are coming from other sources. They are brought in from Guatemala. They are brought in from places like China. They are being diverted from the military. But you don't get these guns from the U.S."

Some guns, he said, "are legitimately shipped to the government of Mexico, by Colt, for example, in the United States. They are approved by the U.S. government for use by the Mexican military service. The guns end up in Mexico that way -- the fully auto versions -- they are not smuggled in across the river."

Many of the fully automatic weapons that have been seized in Mexico cannot be found in the U.S., but they are not uncommon in the Third World.

The Mexican government said it has seized 2,239 grenades in the last two years -- but those grenades and the rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) are unavailable in U.S. gun shops. The ones used in an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Monterrey in October and a TV station in January were made in South Korea. Almost 70 similar grenades were seized in February in the bottom of a truck entering Mexico from Guatemala.

"Most of these weapons are being smuggled from Central American countries or by sea, eluding U.S. and Mexican monitors who are focused on the smuggling of semi-automatic and conventional weapons purchased from dealers in the U.S. border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California," according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Boatloads of Weapons

So why would the Mexican drug cartels, which last year grossed between $17 billion and $38 billion, bother buying single-shot rifles, and force thousands of unknown "straw" buyers in the U.S. through a government background check, when they can buy boatloads of fully automatic M-16s and assault rifles from China, Israel or South Africa?

Alberto Islas, a security consultant who advises the Mexican government, says the drug cartels are using the Guatemalan border to move black market weapons. Some are left over from the Central American wars the United States helped fight; others, like the grenades and launchers, are South Korean, Israeli and Spanish. Some were legally supplied to the Mexican government; others were sold by corrupt military officers or officials.

The exaggeration of United States "responsibility" for the lawlessness in Mexico extends even beyond the "90-percent" falsehood -- and some Second Amendment activists believe it's designed to promote more restrictive gun-control laws in the U.S.

In a remarkable claim, Auturo Sarukhan, the Mexican ambassador to the U.S., said Mexico seizes 2,000 guns a day from the United States -- 730,000 a year. That's a far cry from the official statistic from the Mexican attorney general's office, which says Mexico seized 29,000 weapons in all of 2007 and 2008.

Chris Cox, spokesman for the National Rifle Association, blames the media and anti-gun politicians in the U.S. for misrepresenting where Mexican weapons come from.

"Reporter after politician after news anchor just disregards the truth on this," Cox said. "The numbers are intentionally used to weaken the Second Amendment."

"The predominant source of guns in Mexico is Central and South America. You also have Russian, Chinese and Israeli guns. It's estimated that over 100,000 soldiers deserted the army to work for the drug cartels, and that ignores all the police. How many of them took their weapons with them?"

But Tom Diaz, senior policy analyst at the Violence Policy Center, called the "90 percent" issue a red herring and said that it should not detract from the effort to stop gun trafficking into Mexico.

"Let's do what we can with what we know," he said. "We know that one hell of a lot of firearms come from the United States because our gun market is wide open."

Now we need to be careful because our 2'nd amendment right to keep and bear arms is being threatened again. Now people, not everyone will say they like guns. I understand, but what you need to understand we were given this right for the express purpose of keeping our government in check. Read the constitution people. The founding fathers understand that governments can get out of control and that they can and will stray from their original concept of being by the people for the people. As we have heard time and time again "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

Illegal Immigration

Let me begin with one little thing first: a definition. Illegal: not according to or authorized by law : Unlawful Illicit not sanctioned by official rules. That was just to let you know where I am going with this. I was just reading an article a few minutes ago from Washington DC. In this article a man was testifying before congress about illegal immigration. The reason this man was testifying is because his daughter and her friend were killed in a car accident as they were sitting at a red light by a drunken driver. The thing about this particular drunk driver is that one he is an illegal immigrant in this country. Two he had been arrested twice before. Three he had not only been arrested twice before but was arrested for exactly the same reason. Drinking and driving along with vehicular homicide. The country had the opportunity to deport this individual but they failed to do so. Now he is sitting in our prisons living off of our taxpayer money and still in this country. The man who was testifying is not asking for anything out of the ordinary. All he is asking for is that his elected officials enforce the laws of this land. You know the same laws that they helped write. I am beginning to think that if you are in this country illegally than it seems you have more rights than I do. I do not have problems with immigrants in this country but it seems to me we are backwards now. Originally when you came to this country you were required to learn English, but today it seems as though I am required to learn different languages just so I can go to 7-11, McDonalds, the grocery store. I am of a like mind to remove our officials that want to curtail to these illegals. If they(immigrants) want to be here that is fine by me but do it legally, that is all I am asking for. Stop with the ACLU fighting for these illegal peoples, stop with the lawmakers fighting for these illegal peoples, and stop with the state and local governments fighting for these illegal peoples. If all of these organizations cannot understand what the legal citizens of this great country of ours is saying then they need to be removed.

P.O.ed at Politics

I am sure everyone out there has been watching the news. I don't know how many people are like me but I can't stand what I am hearing. First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Henry. I am an electrician and have been for about 13 years. I am also currently laid off. Lately I have been watching the news on tv and also reading it online on CNS.com. It aggravates me that these idiot politicians out here are talking about the need to implement this "cap and trade" of emissions. Right now I look and see that unemployment rates are increasing daily and they want to implement a practice that will raise our energy rates even higher than they were. Now I am originally from Baltimore, Maryland and in the central Maryland region there is only one real choice for energy and that is Baltimore Gas and Electric. Maryland deregulated the energy companies a few years ago and in that time energy rates went up 85%. That means if you were paying $300.00 a month for electric you are now paying $555.00 a month for the same usage. Keep in mind that the only ones that are going to suffer with this "cap and trade" is the middle class. The lower class has energy assistance to fall back on. But the middle class I can guarantee that you make too much money to qualify. I have watched my fathers energy bills go to over a $1000.00 a month during the winter. The bad part is is that he doesn't use any additional power. Personally I think that we as tax payers and voters should be outraged by this and we need to say something to our elected officials. And if those same elected officials don't respond in kind by voting against these bills that cost us Americans more money than they need to removed with our votes!
